Do you clean your pet’s toys?

Washing pet toys and keeping them germ-free is a good way to keep them in good shape. You don’t need to clean them every day or even every week, but a few times a month will help them stay in better condition and your pet will be able to enjoy them for longer.

Soft toys

A washing machine is probably the best way to clean a soft toy.

Use a toothbrush to try to get rid of any dirt and debris on the toy. Check the labels to make sure they can be put in the washing machine.

Wash them on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent or no detergent at all.

Let them air dry.

Hard toys

Use a toothbrush to brush away any debris.

Fill the sink with hot water and add a tiny squirt of washing up liquid.

Hold the toy under the running water and scrub it.

Rinse thoroughly under running water. Lay them on a towel to air dry.

Do not use bleach. You could harm your animal this way and it isn’t worth the risk.

If you want to use the toy for longer and keep your pet safe, take good care of it.
