Take Care of Your Dog on Firework Night

fireworks-1758_640Every year a significant number of dogs are hurt due to fireworks. The injuries are not just physical but Psychological also.

Dogs have very acute hearing and the loud noises created by fireworks can cause them actual pain in their ears, on top of this these noises can make a dog very stressful. Many dogs will actually run away from home due to the noises created by fireworks.

Follow these simple tips to make sure your dog is safe this Firework Night.

 

  • Take your dog for a walk earlier than normal on Firework Night before the events begin.
  • Make sure you dog is inside your house when fireworks are let off.
  • Shut all windows and doors to stop your dog from escaping. Close the curtains, leave on the lights and if your dog is used to it, put on a radio or the television in order to provide a normal background noise.
  • Make sure your dog is calm, let them walk around the house, don’t let them ‘cower’ in a corner.
  • If you are at home with your dog act normally but pay them lots of attention.
  • Do not leave your dog tied up in the garden on Fireworks Night.
  • Never, Never, Never take your dog to a Fireworks Event.
